Reading Into Art 2025

Exhibition Dates: May 2 - 24, 2025

Art On 1st, in collaboration with Book No Further, invites you to participate in our annual “Reading Into Art” exhibition for 2025! We are seeking creative works inspired by literature—transform a book into a visual narrative. This year, you have two exciting options:

  1. Choose from Local Voices: Select a book from our expanded list of local and regional authors available at https://www.booknofurther.com/regional-writers-books

  2. Personal favorites: Use any book that has inspired you, transforming it into a work of art.

All visual mediums are welcome, but we especially encourage submissions that explore the rich tradition of book illustration.

Opening Reception: May 2, 5:00–8:00 PM (with local authors in attendance)
Submission Deadline: April 27, 2025

Join us in celebrating the power of storytelling and the creative interplay between literature and art. We look forward to seeing your imaginative interpretations that bring the written word to life!

Please support Roanoke’s only local bookstore by purchasing the books directly from Book No further either in store or online.

Entries MUST be made here on our website. No work will be accepted past the deadline of Tuesday, April 15, 2025. All artwork must be listed for sale and Art On 1st requires a 30% commission on all sales.

Our fees are $10 per entry or $35 for a bundle of four entries. This nominal fee goes a long way in sustaining our commitment to fostering a vibrant art community, and providing our patrons with a rich tapestry of creativity.

Please remember this is a curated show and space is limited. Some entries may not be accepted, but we encourage everyone to keep an eye on our website, Instagram, and Facebook for future opportunities. All entry fees are nonrefundable.
