Call for Artists OPEN NOW - Closes April 23rd, 2025

We invite you to experience "Reading Into Art," a collaboration between Art On 1st and Book No Further May 2nd - May 17th, 2025.

This unique exhibition is a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of storytelling, and the inspiration it ignites. In response to our call for artists, creators from various backgrounds have produced a piece of visual art in the medium or their choice inspired by one of several local authors or their favorite book of the artists’ choosing.

Companion Exhibition

A companion exhibition to “Reading Into Art” will also be on display, highlighting the creativity and storytelling power of book illustration. This show features works by artists who bring literature to life through visual art—whether seasoned illustrators or those exploring the form for the first time.

From whimsical children's book scenes to imaginative interpretations of novels for adults, the exhibition showcases a wide range of styles and subjects. Illustrations are presented in a variety of formats, including framed works, posters, and printed books on display.

An opening celebration will take place May 2nd from 5pm - 8pm at Art On 1st - 300 1st St SW, Roanoke, VA 24011. Come meet and chat with local authors and artists!
